The first training program in Chinese of the internationally recognized Venue Management School (VMS) was carried out in the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin from July 23 to 25 in order to deepen cooperation between Macao and Hengqin in the meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE) sector.
Co-hosted by the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI) and the Venue Management Association (VMA), and supported by the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute and the Economic Development Bureau of Hengqin, the training marked a key step in bringing international MICE training resources closer to Chinese professionals.
The training attracted more than 20 participants from Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao, offering modules tailored to the country's exhibition landscape while aligning with global standards. Topics included risk management, human resources planning, and event operations—areas identified as essential for upgrading the region's MICE capabilities.
This was the first time the program was held outside Macao, responding to rising demand for professional development delivered in Chinese. Organizers say the initiative reflects a shift from the previous model to a more integrated, bilingual approach that leverages the strengths of both regions.
Organizers hope the program will serve as a blueprint for "One Exhibition, Two Locations," a cross-region strategy aimed at establishing a shared talent pool and harmonized standards across the Greater Bay Area.
