The Guangdong Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology recently announced the second batch of newly accredited chemical industrial parks, with Maoming Binhai New Area's Green Chemicals and Hydrogen Energy Industrial Park making the list.
Launched in 2020 with a total investment of nearly 5 billion yuan, the park features a comprehensive infrastructure system—including roads, water supply, sewage treatment, substations, utility corridors, and fire stations. As of the application date, no safety or environmental incidents have been reported.
In recent years, Maoming Binhai New Area has actively promoted high-quality development in green chemicals and new materials, forming an emerging industrial hub centered on green chemicals and hydrogen energy. The area is accelerating its transition to green energy and low-carbon industrial growth.
Major projects include the 100-billion-yuan Donghua Energy (Maoming) Alkane Resources Utilization Project, already established in the zone; the 3.7-billion-yuan, 10,000-ton carbon fiber project, which is now progressing steadily with an expanding industrial chain; and the 11.5-billion-yuan Maoming Acrylic Acid Industrial Park, currently under rapid construction with scheduled trial production by year-end.

Since the start of this year, several high-quality projects have been signed and settled, including the Carbon Circular Economy and Green Chemical Project (total investment of 3.5 billion yuan), the Qisecai Special Coating Production Base Project (total investment of 600 million yuan), and the China Coal Maoming Thermal Power Project (total investment of nearly 20 billion yuan). These projects have laid a solid foundation for Maoming Binhai New Area to build a world-class industrial cluster of green chemicals, new materials, and new energy.
Maoming Binhai New Area is located at the intersection of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the Beibu Gulf Economic Zone, and the Hainan Free Trade Zone. The most notable advantage of the Green Chemicals and Hydrogen Energy Industrial Park is its proximity to the port, facilitating the import and export of raw materials and products for enterprises. Adjacent to the park, the Jida Port Area of Maoming Port is only 67 nautical miles from the international main shipping lane. It is planned to have 76 berths ranging from 10,000 to 150,000 DWT, with an annual throughput of 100 million tons, focusing on serving the petrochemical industry.
The accredited area of the Park is 9.78 square kilometers. To date, the park has completed the expropriation of over 17,000 mu (about 2,800 acres) of land and reclaimed and leveled more than 7,000 mu (about 1,153 acres) of land.
