From August 1 to 7, mosquitoes will be highly active in densely populated regions such as the Pearl River Delta, eastern Guangdong, and western Guangdong, according to a mosquito activity meteorological index jointly released by the Guangdong Meteorological Observatory and the Guangdong Provincial Disease Prevention and Control Bureau on August 1.
In some areas of northern Guangdong, mosquitoes will be relatively active.
Regions are color-coded to indicate mosquito activity levels: red represents areas where mosquitoes are highly active, orange indicates active areas, and yellow denotes relatively active areas. (Photo: Guangdong Weather)
In regions marked by extremely high mosquito activity, the temperature is very conducive to the breeding and growth of mosquito vectors. It is advisable to minimize outdoor activities during the peak mosquito hours of early morning and evening. When going out, it is recommended to wear long-sleeved shirts and long pants or to apply mosquito repellent on exposed skin.
Regions with heightened mosquito activity are typically marked by temperatures that not only support key vector behaviors, such as blood-feeding and egg laying, but also accelerate their reproductive cycles. For individuals required to spend extended periods outdoors or engage in long-duration activities, it is suggested to wear long-sleeved shirts and long pants or to apply mosquito repellent on exposed skin to minimize direct exposure to bites.
