A flagship summer practice program for outstanding young talent from leading global universities has opened in the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin and Zhuhai city, as the region intensifies efforts to attract skilled graduates to the Greater Bay Area (GBA).
Launched on July 26, the initiative is part of Guangdong's talent scheme and is jointly organized by Zhuhai's talent office, the municipal youth league, and the Economic Bureau of Hengqin.
Now in its fifth edition, the program has experienced record growth. More than 4,700 applicants from over 670 universities worldwide competed for places, with final selection granted to PhD candidates in science and engineering from 40 top institutions, including Imperial College London, the National University of Singapore, the University of Tokyo, Peking University, and Tsinghua University.
Participants will engage in a "seven-in-one" practice model, featuring company visits, executive exchanges, and workplace internships. Groups will be placed with leading organizations and will tour major institutions, including Gree Electric and Macau University of Science and Technology.
In addition to professional placements, cultural and city activities will introduce participants to the distinct characteristics of Zhuhai, Hengqin, and neighboring Macao, underscoring the region's appeal as a hub for innovation and global collaboration.
