The 2025 Guangdong Provincial Youth Wrestling Championships officially kicked off at the Maoming Sports Center Gymnasium on July 15.

A total of 786 young wrestlers from 18 cities in Guangdong are competing in 46 age-group events across Freestyle and Greco-Roman categories. The tournament runs from July 15 to 22.
Maoming fields 76 athletes for the competition.
Host city Maoming has fielded 76 athletes (52 men, 24 women). The team aims to leverage its home advantage, compete with determination, and gain experience while identifying top talent for next year's Provincial Games.
The thrilling competition
As a core venue for next year's Provincial Games, the Maoming Sports Center Gymnasium is completing final facility tests. With an investment of 165.88 million yuan, the venue reflects the city's vision for a multifunctional sports hub. The local sports bureau pledged full logistical support and is using the event to fine-tune operations in preparation for the upcoming Games.
