The 2025 "Agarwood Cup" Maoming Dianbai District Third Township Men's Basketball League officially tipped off on July 25 in Makang Town's Kangli Village.

Following an electrifying opening ceremony, matches commenced simultaneously across four venues—Makang, Lingmen, Lintou, and Nanhai—on July 26. Twenty-four teams will compete in knockout rounds through August 9.

As a cornerstone of Dianbai's grassroots sports development, the league has become a vital platform for townships to showcase their athletic prowess while highlighting the region's thriving basketball culture.

The opening ceremony blended sport and local heritage as teams paraded with signature agricultural products: Guanzhu's agarwood, Makang's fragrant taro, and Qijing's intricate wood carvings. This unique tradition transformed the court into a vibrant display of community pride alongside competitive fervor.

In the league's curtain-raiser, host Makang Township faced off against Shayuan Township. Leveraging swift fast-break transitions and lethal perimeter shooting, the reigning runners-up (2024) built an insurmountable lead. The final score—84:64—marked a triumphant "homecourt debut" for Makang, setting the tone for 15 days of intense regional rivalry.
