Hengqin Port will introduce a new "no-document" clearance lane to facilitate cross-border travel for athletes and staff participating in the 15th National Games and Paralympic Games, organizers announced on July 8.
Athletes from Hong Kong and Macao will be able to cross the border without showing physical ID documents, thanks to a pre-registration system that verifies biometric data in advance. This initiative is part of broader efforts to streamline border procedures for the first time the Games are jointly hosted by Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao.
Hengqin Port has been designated an official entry point for the Games and will provide exclusive lanes and group clearance services for participants and spectators. A prime example is the 230-km road cycling race, where athletes will seamlessly cross the borders of Zhuhai, Macao, and Hong Kong six times without delay.
The route begins in Zhuhai, passes through Taipa (澳门氹仔) via the Macao Bridge, enters Hong Kong's Lantau Island (香港大屿山) via the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, and loops back to finish in central Zhuhai via Hengqin.
Hengqin Port will also offer multilingual volunteer support and an emergency green channel for on-site travel document issues.
This edition of the Games is expected to see over 6,000 athletes from the Chinese mainland traveling to Hong Kong and Macao, and more than 3,000 participants from Hong Kong and Macao competing in Guangdong province, marking the largest scale in the event's history.
