Guangdong female loan program supports 1.58 mln women in entrepreneurship and employment

The Women's Entrepreneurship Small Guarantee Loan Subsidy Program in Guangdong has directly benefited 158,000 women and indirectly supported 1.58 million women in starting businesses and finding employment over the past 15 years.

According to the Guangdong Women’s Federation, the program, approved in 2011, targets local women who are under the age of 60, in good health, and have basic work skills and entrepreneurial potential. For eligible women applying for business-related loans, the provincial government provides interest subsidies. The loan term generally ranges from 1 to 2 years.

The maximum loan amount for an individual woman is 100,000 yuan. Each city can recommend 5 to 10 representative women annually, with a maximum loan amount of 300,000 yuan each.

Since its inception, a total of 179.94 million yuan has been allocated in five phases of the program. Over the past 15 years, the program has facilitated 15.9 billion yuan in women’s small guaranteed loans across the province, directly benefiting 158,000 women and indirectly supporting 1.58 million women in entrepreneurship and employment.

The sixth phase of the program is currently planned.
