111 precious coral artworks debut at Shenzhen's Nanshan Museum

The exhibition "Treasures of the Deep: The Art and Culture of Coral Gemstones" is currently underway at Shenzhen's Nanshan Museum and will run through May 24 of next year.

Featuring 111 pieces and sets of precious coral branches and sculptures, the exhibition is organized into four chapters: "Decoding Corals," "Corals and Culture," "Glamorous Corals," and "Tough Life and Bright Future." These chapters allow visitors to fully appreciate the extraordinary beauty and allure of the artworks.

Unlike tropical corals, precious corals grow on the dark, cold seabed. Tiny coral polyps spend decades, even centuries, building crystalline, colorful skeletons with remarkable perseverance, ultimately creating the only natural organic gemstone that cannot be cultivated by humans. The existence of precious coral is truly a miracle of time and nature.

Visitors can experience the magic of the deep sea, the resilience of life, and the diverse beauty of coral on this journey.

The exhibition is co-hosted by the Nanshan District Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports Bureau, the Chii Lih Coral Museum, and the Nanshan Museum.
