2025 International Workshop on Intellectual Property in Guangdong kicks off

On July 14, the 2025 International Workshop on Intellectual Property in Guangdong officially kicked off in Guangzhou. This year's workshop brings together over 30 participants from the United States, France, Armenia, Malaysia, Iran, and Yemen.

Among the participants are university students majoring in law, intellectual property, and medicine, along with young legal professionals from law firms, IP agencies, and R&D enterprises.

The program is designed to foster deeper engagement in the field of intellectual property. The instructional sessions feature discussion-based teaching on topics such as the low-altitude economy, copyright issues in AIGC (AI-generated Content), the legal systems of intellectual property in Asia, and pharmaceutical patent practices.

In the on-site visit sessions, participants will explore leading tech and manufacturing companies such as Tencent, BYD, and Gree to experience their innovative environments. They will also tour the Hengqin Intellectual Property Exchange platform to witness groundbreaking practices in regulatory alignment across Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao.

Additionally, they will engage with the Guangdong Aerospace Research Academy to explore the IP layout for future industries, visit the Huangpu intangible cultural heritage center to learn about the significance of IP protection in preserving traditional culture, and participate in activities at the Patent Examination Cooperation Guangdong Center of the Patent Office, CNIPA, to experience the efficiency of IP examination in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Guangdong ranks first in China in terms of the number of valid invention patents, cumulative PCT international patent applications, and active trademark registrations. The Shenzhen-Hong Kong-Guangzhou science and technology cluster has also maintained its position as the world's second most innovative cluster in the Global Innovation Index for five consecutive years.
