On November 11, the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University (FAH-SYSU) held a celebration event to mark its 115th anniversary.
The event featured an unveiling ceremony for the bronze statue of Dr. Ke Lin. Guangdong Public Medical School was one of the predecessors of the School of Medicine of Sun Yat-sen University. Since being admitted to Guangdong Public Medical School to study medicine in 1920, Dr. Ke Lin dedicated his entire life to the medical field. He once led the school in establishing a modern medical education system and made significant contributions to the development of China's healthcare sector.
Xiao Haipeng, the President of FAH-SYSU, stated that the hospital will strive to carry on the spirit of Dr. Ke Lin, enhance medical humanities, and advance the high-quality development of healthcare, education, science and technology, and talent in an integrated manner. "We will continue to contribute our efforts to building a Healthy China and fostering a global community of health for all."

Simultaneously, the announcement of the establishment of the Ke Lin Academy for Medical Humanities was made. The Academy will focus on three key dimensions: theoretical innovation and translation in medical humanities disciplines, systematic enhancement of the humanistic qualities of medical staff, and innovation in medical humanities practice models.
It will conduct interdisciplinary research, deepen cultural education mechanisms, elevate the professional spirit and humanistic qualities of medical personnel, and ultimately provide patients with a better healthcare experience.
During the event, several professional academic platforms were officially unveiled, including the Ke Lin Academy for Female Physician Scientists of the Future, the Ke Lin Academy for Surgical Robotics, and the DNA Alliance Office.
The newly established Ke Lin Academy for Surgical Robotics has integrated top-tier global faculty and teaching resources from institutions such as Mass General Brigham and the University of California. It aims to further develop a closed-loop, full-chain training system encompassing "theoretical teaching - simulated practice - clinical practice - remote guidance".

In addition, a series of activities took place concurrently. These included the release of the planned textbooks "Internal Medicine" for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the Handbook for Clinical Interns, the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for medical education cooperation with McGraw Hill, the launch of a "5G+VisionPro" orthopedic teaching robot, and the announcement of an ablation robot.

At the same time, a symposium focused on cutting-edge topics in medical humanities education facilitated in-depth exchanges and discussions. Experts and scholars from home and abroad engaged in profound discussions on core issues such as the integration and innovation of AI and medical education, the contemporary value of humanities education, and the balance between medical technology and humanistic care.
