The 3rd Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area College Student Film Week closed on November 1 with a "Film Night" celebration at South China Agricultural University, bringing together students, experts, and filmmakers from Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao.

The closing event featured a film-themed market, live music, an awards ceremony, and outdoor screenings, rounding off two weeks of activities that celebrated young filmmaking talent.

Actress Xin Zhilei, who recently won Best Actress at the Venice International Film Festival, attended with the team of The Sun Rises on Us All. The film, produced by a Guangzhou-based company and shot in several Guangdong cities, including Guangzhou and Shaoguan, is set for release on November 7.

This year's festival received 1,602 submissions from 196 universities worldwide, including Hong Kong Baptist University, Chung-Ang University in South Korea, and Monash University in Australia. Awards were presented in categories covering short fiction, documentaries, animation, screenplays, and film reviews.
Since its launch in 2023, the Film Week has been working to connect young creators with production companies. One example is 207B, a film adapted from a screenplay that won at the first edition and has been developed and completed this year.
"For a new screenwriter, seeing your story turned into a film is a major step," said Jiang Jiaqian, the screenwriter of 207B, at the Film Night. "The Film Week gives young creators a chance to see their work come to life."
Hong Kong Baptist University MFA student Guo Haochun said the film week was a strong source of motivation. "They make me feel supported as a filmmaker," she said. "I'll definitely encourage my classmates to take part next year."
The two-week event also included screenings, masterclasses, and a creative training camp for emerging filmmakers, continuing to foster collaboration and growth within the Greater Bay Area's film community.
